A quick reference for building AP controller migration scripts from pasted AP names or controller summary output.

Recommended Flow

Choose the migration type.

Use 5520 to 9800 for AireOS source controllers, or Between 9800s for IOS-XE controller moves.

Paste or enter AP names.

Paste show ap summary output and extract names, or enter one AP name per line manually.

Add controller assignments.

Enter primary, secondary, and optional tertiary controller names and IP addresses.

Generate, copy, or download.

Review the generated commands before applying them to a controller.

AP Name Extraction

  • 5520 output: paste AireOS show ap summary output when using 5520 to 9800.
  • 9800 output: paste IOS-XE show ap summary output when using Between 9800s.
  • Paging lines: lines such as --More-- or (q)uit are ignored.
  • Editable list: extracted AP names are placed into the AP Names field before script generation.

Reset Behavior

The reset option adds the matching reset command for the selected migration type. Leave it unchecked if the reset will be handled separately.
